I'm so bummed that this is the last installment of the series, especially when it feels like there is so much left to explore in this world. But I think, with this last book, this series accomplishes what it set out to do. I love the way this series has approached overcoming gender norms and rising above other people's expectations of you. Tackling these subjects in a graphic novel meant for kids is so so important and I'm glad the next generation has something that I didn't, at least not to this degree. I'll definitely be rereading all three books in the future!

Basically "screw gender roles" the graphic novel, which I am all for. The message in this story is a much needed one, especially for the target demographic.

What I especially liked is that, though Aster does witchery, something that only girls are allowed to do, it doesn't make him any less of a boy. So often I see the mentality that, oh you do x? Only y gender does that, so makes you less of x, which is so baffling and incorrect.

There's also a ton of diversity in this comic, with a lot of different boy types and ethnicities.

Since Aster has such a big family, it's a shame we don't see more of them, other than their disapproval of Aster. Well, I think there's going to be a continuation, so hopefully there will be more development on their end.

Excellent illustrations with a somewhat lackluster story.
