Chrestomanci has big Gene Wilder energy and I shall follow the series just for that alone.

I don't think I've met a character that has exuded my personal sense of humor quite like Eliot Schafer. He's sarcastic, snarky, quick-witted, and filled with as much venom as a copperhead. I love him and all of his horribly relatable emotional baggage.

While this book's sense of humor may not appease some, I really got into it. It is mostly dry wit combined with hilarious situations, which is my jam. I think the only bit that didn't really land for me was the whole reverse-sexist elf culture, which was probably more of an attempt to show how idiotic sexism really is rather than telling a long running joke.

Though on the whole I think the story is told wonderfully, there are some moments that are structured oddly. I can't even tell what's wrong with them, only that they seem off and weirdly squeezed in. But, fortunately, that didn't take away much from my good experience.
