I hate that I'm dnfing this novella because I really wanted to like it. It's sapphic, fantasy and it's not huge. I loved this concept. But GOD ITS SO BORING????? Don't get me wrong, i love the writing, it's very beautiful and atmospheric but there's only so much description I can till I fall asleep (and I did... FIVE TIMES). I really really tried finish this but it's so draggy and there's hardly any dialogue exchange or any action. It's not even cozy fantasy?? For every five pages of description there's maybe two dialogue exchange. And I'm not some dialogue fanatic and it's not a case of "oh if there's no dialogue, I can't concentrate." But I just kept reading it and kept thinking, why am I even reading this???.

This whole thing turned into a rant. Hate that I'm dnfing it just when things are about to get revealed but really I just don't care anymore.

It was fine at first. Made me feel all exhilarated like the first novel but it just went down from there? Once they set out for Penglai Island, the plot just kept spiralling. I get there's meant to be obstacles but god!...it really was one thing after another. Idk, maybe I will regret not finishing it in the future considering I loved the first part but for now I can't read this anymore

Reading this novel was like a rollercoaster. Sometimes I hated the characters but somehow they made up for it. I almost dnf'd it but I'm glad i didn't. I guess I just needed both Romeo and Dallas to grow as characters so they became bearable. I almost liked them too. Tbh Romeo really pissed me off but
then he built a library home for Dallas and that just sort of melted.
I just wish the author's didn't sometimes about women so crassly. This just made it very difficult for me actually like like the book. But it's okay as a palate cleaner.

As psychological book it was good as it delves into the characters' background and trauma but as a thriller it didn't live up to my expectations.
