100% recommend this on audio - I was cackling like three minutes into the book.
I received a free ALC from Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed the introduction, but the poems themselves ultimately fell flat for me. I will say, though, that Dacre's voice is made for audiobooks and I felt very calmed while listening to this, even though I didn't care much for the content.

CW: war violence, miscarriage, Islamophobia
I loved listening to Ilhan tell her story (definitely recommend this one on audio). I was unfamiliar with her political background prior to becoming a Congresswoman and I enjoyed learning more about her. This book is filled with tragedy, but also hope and redemption.

I'm honestly a bit picky about personal finance books, but I really liked this one. It was straight to the point and is essentially all about how to bring minimalism into your financial life. This book would be perfect for young adults or anyone who wants to start really focusing on their finances. It also comes with links to online resources, which I am looking forward to using. I'm glad I won this in a Goodreads giveaway earlier this year as it may not have been on my radar otherwise.
I received a free eARC from Netgalley and Running Press in exchange for my honest review.
Apparently everyone publishes election-related books during election years and I can't stop reading them! This middle grade novel is about an election for seventh grade class president, but it is also about friendship and learning tough life lessons. The growth of the characters was fun to watch throughout the book and I loved the ending. Really cute read!

I haven't read the original book, but the graphic novel adaptation is incredible. The artwork really enhances the story and makes it all the more powerful. Recommended for folks who enjoyed Ghost Boys.

Holy. Shit. What did I just read??? I feel like this was the perfect introduction to SGJ's work and I can't wait to read more.

CW: all things medical, death of a friend
I laughed, I cried, I felt so incredibly seen. I would recommend this book to literally everyone because you either have a chronic illness and can relate to so much of Lara's words, or you don't but you should read this so you can be aware of what folks experience on a daily basis.

I have not read very many thrillers, but everyone was hyping this one up so I had to pick it up... and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I read this book on a stormy evening and it was the perfect weather. This book is MADNESS, but I couldn't put it down. I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen next and then a plot twist would come and I was like wait WHAT. This is a debut novel???? HOW? But also I need Braithwaite to write many more thrillers ASAP.

Nothing I can say would do this book justice. The author's note at the beginning and the end make this book all the more powerful.
