I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability was an absolutely hilarious manga, but probably not in the way the author intended. This definitely fits in with my personal rule of thumb; the longer a manga's title is, the less you can expect from it. IWRATSPSICTMTPMMA has an acronym that would make even a veteran BookTwitter user's eyes cross, and the inside is exactly what it sounds like. A peasant with inferior magic desperately tries to claw his way up in a world where your magic depends on three things: bloodline, aptitude, and dedication, and ends up being murdered just in time to be reincarnated as the land's seventh prince. Regaining his memories means ten years later, he's become a formidable sorcerer. Between the maids adoring him, having to hide his powers so he doesn't rock any boats, and releasing a demon to be his familiar, he's got a lot going on in his new life!
I can't say I cared much for the shota aspect, the nudity, or the very video game-esque worldbuilding. I've been lucky to uncover some amazing isekais, but this is very typical of the genre in a way I didn't like. I know I'm biased, since new isekais I read have very high bars to clear, so I gave this book a pity half star on my rating since it is exactly what it appears to be, even if I didn't care for it. In the end, this wasn't for me, but if you're a fan of very typical isekais where an overpowered boy gets dropped into a new life and is surrounded by boobs, this would be perfect for you.

This new adventure manga from the creator of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid draws on the famous tale of the peach boy, Momotaro, creating a world where Momotaro (now Mikoto) crossed the sea to satisfy his thirst for ogre blood. He meets a princess, Saltherine, who wishes to see the world, and when she sets off to travel she learns that not all monsters are evil... and not all humans are what they seem— including herself!
This was a nice start to what I hope will be an action-packed, violently fun series. I wasn't the biggest fan of the art style and the pacing, in the beginning, seemed rush, but I did like a few of the tropes enough to finish! I love a good supportive dad and a nice but violent stranger, and I'm looking forward to Sally exploring the world and herself.

This fun comic follows the beloved cast of Big Hero 6 after the events of the movie. Hiro is attending nerd school, he and his friends are still fighting crime, but big players are moving behind the scenes that make things even more difficult on top of the drama Hiro is facing at school!
I enjoyed this, but a lot less than I thought I would. Of course, I didn't expect the emotional weight and the same feelings as in the movie (since that would be so hard to measure up to!), but this first volume was much simpler than I expected. The structure and pacing were also odd to me. In the first chapter, Hiro is paired up with another young student at his school and has to deal with her 180 in personality while the gang fights an electric mother-daughter villain duo. (And of course, Karmi is in love with his superhero persona.) In chapter two, a globby art thief who can change shape confounds them, but it turns out there's more than meets the eye to the painting he's targeting.
I'm a sucker for "monster-of-the-episode" type stories where beloved characters wrap up a job in one section, but what threw me off was chapter 3, when the story suddenly picks up right after the movie ended and introduces the new dean as if she's not a character we met in chapter one. I wasn't expecting the storytelling to be nonlinear (or told backward), and I didn't see a craft reason for the comic to be arranged this way.
This is going to tie into the animated show, though, so I think this book was probably just trying to introduce all the pieces that will be present in the show. The art style was fun and will appeal to kids, especially those who really loved Baymax, but I think it might not hold up for an older audience.
