This book was intriguing to begin with and I found the lore of witches to be different than I have previously encountered. As the story continued it seemed to drag on unnecessarily, I just wanted to get to the point. The troupe of love/hate or love to hate between the main characters is strong in this tale leading to angsty tension that I do not care for. Due to the warnings at the beginning I was expecting an explicit, graphic, gory, potentially gross read; instead there was nothing that was too extreme for me. There was certainly more blood and gore than sex which was include for one full scene and otherwise a few oral encounters. Ending the way it does has me wanting to read the continuation of the tale in book two. Though, I do not know if I will actually do so. Overall, I found this story to be lackluster. Having finished reading it I am feeling very meh, can't say I liked it but I can't say I hated it.

I listened rather than read this book. I enjoyed listening to Mr. Steiner though I did have to slow it down a smidge because I had a hard time understanding him. I loved the content, I enjoyed how it was presented in a diary/journal format, and I laughed several times while listening. The insight into the everyday workings of Formula 1 was fascinating. Steiner did a good job keeping track of his year as a team principle, telling the hard truths, plus adding bits and pieces of his own history to keep things interesting during the August break. If you are a F1 fan I would recommend this book as it is so eye opening to the behind the scenes that we don't normally get to see.

While I did enjoy the story at the end I felt it took a great deal of time to get there. The first two thirds read very slow for me. I liked the inclusivity and LGBT positive writing. I found the underlying theme of mental health/wellness to be incorporated in a way that worked well within the tale. It was also very relatable though not in an on the nose way.
I do not know if I will read this again. If I do it will likely be with my kids when they are teens as the overall vibe is wholesome and I think they would like it.

This was a good finish for the story. Not quite as fast paced as the first book, though just as dark, actually, moreso. Also there is a good deal more sex. The main characters grew and changed in intriguing ways. The location/art world were as captivating as in the first half of the story. The ending was particularly satisfying to read.
I enjoyed the conclusion of the tale as a whole even though this duet was not something I usually read. It was well written and interesting. While I did like the set enough to read them through I will not read them again.
A note: I did notice a few editing/typo issues in the print copy I read. Mistakes happen but it was frustrating to see that there were a handful throughout the book.

This book was not to my liking. I went into it with high expectations due to the praise on the back cover which included the phrase "furiously feminist." That is not how I would describe this tale by a long shot. The lore was interesting, I enjoyed the dragon, but it could have been so much more than it ended up being. I kept reading, waiting and hoping for excitement, for the fierce feminine rise to power. I was left disappointed in the whole story.
All of that said, I will concede that it is extremely well written. The relationship between the man and woman is portrayed very accurately for what it is. However, as a person with experience being in that kind of relationship it is not one I wish to read about.

Not a typical read for me, darker in concept, characters, and plot than I usually enjoy. The book was faced paced, kept me engaged, always wanting to know what would happen next. The main characters were amusing in their constant attempt to out stubborn the other. I liked the setting of the book. Both in location and business sense. I don't think I've read a story set in San Francisco before and I know I haven't read any that center around the art world(its parties, creation, drama and politics). Overall, I enjoyed this tale for what it was though I will not likely read it again

Fun twist on the myth. Great for mid grade kids to read and discuss.
I didn't like this story as much as the first. Still a fun interpretation of the myth. I am looking forward to Medusa's story in book three.
I enjoyed this twist of myth. Good book for mid grade kids to read. Quick time span without missing anything important.
Different take on the myth. I think the discussion and write prompts at the end of the books are fantastic for mid grade kids. This series is a great way to get kids interested in mythology.
