This book felt unfinished. The unhinged idea that someone would just agree to keep someone else's crime concealed is laughable; Scott is just a coward, Nina needed to get treatment, that child would forever be traumatized once she find out the truth. It had enough good parts but too many holes.

I cannot not see the similarities to so many books: Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Fourth Wing (although this one is older than), Divergent, and even Dragonriders of Pern. I understand taking inspiration, but this is too close to be just that even to the end with the cliffhanger death of the old wise man, really? Dumbledore anyone? . I had such high hopes for it. I can see how some who have never read those books can find it interesting.
