honestly, i hate to give negative reviews but this book to me completely missed the mark. it was rushed and messy. the story was difficult to follow. the characters were poorly developed and i felt more sympathy towards a mass murderer than i did the main character. maybe i wasn’t the right audience or maybe this book didn’t have the right outline in the first place. my favourite part was the ending, so that’s saying something in itself. i had no idea what was going on all of the time and it just felt like a child’s attempt at something gory? idk, sorry but i’ll pass. i know others have loved it though so this is entirely my opinion <3 take it with a pinch of salt and make your own judgements!

i am SO conflicted about this book. part of me adores this in every possible way, it was beautiful, the world building was gorgeous, the characters are so interesting and dimensional. but on the other hand, i found the last third of this book a struggle to get through- perhaps longer books just aren’t for me 😅 i felt there were a lot of pages but so little actual plot that i was sort of confused at what had actually happened??? i’m not sure on this but i did still love it and will be patiently waiting for the sequel. malini and priya are in for a ride.

i adored this book and no words i say about it will ever be enough. this was beautiful and made me feel so warm. the new found family was so important in this novel but so was the family that got left behind. the ending was so satisfying and the characters all felt like i could reach out and hug them. i loved how everyone had their own story and own battle and wowowowow i loved it so much. i almost cried several times but mostly i was hiding my grin behind my hands to stop looking like a maniac on the bus. read this. it helped me fall in love with being alive just that little bit more.

this book overall was just toothrottingly sweet and i loved it. some stories were a little worse than others but i adored the characters and the way the relationships were so developed in such a short time. it was lovely to see so many sapphic short stories as well!

honestly i’m not really sure why this book fell short for me. perhaps my hopes were too high but this just felt,, a little disappointing. the premise was incredible and i loved the characters we met but whilst i was reading it just felt like it was missing something and i struggled to get through it. nevertheless, i enjoyed reading it and will always urge people to read this authors work. it is so emotive and has bottles of angst on tap. i’m excited to see what this author does next.

normalised healthy LDR!!! a group of beautiful platonic relationships and supportive sisters for the win! as well as my ever present love for sports gays <3 this was beautiful and heartbreaking and at times i had to close the book because it hurt that beautifully. but i loved this and all it conveyed. and yes, it was actually very funny. i wish nothing but the best for this little group of humans in this book <33

This book was adorable and an absolutely wonderful start to my 2022. I now claim Sporty queers as my niche because DAMN I had myself falling for Miss. ‘Heart on Her Sleeve’ Matthews. This book was beautiful and so comforting and soft. The only reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars is I felt a few of the more toxic elements (abuse and relationships alike) were glossed over to get closer to that beautiful ending. I would’ve liked to see a bit more closure and a bit more development and screen time of the side characters. But overall, I still really really loved this! And them! In all their dorky glory, I will be reading more from this author very soon <3

It wasn’t a bad book but for me personally, it felt like it relied too much on its humour rather than making likeable characters or a decent plot. This book has so many plot holes it’s unfunny. Characters from the immediate start were barely mentioned, the conclusion was entirely rushed and unsatisfying. I still enjoyed reading this but I fear the negatives outweigh the positives.
