I don't get it, how Gaiman continues to weave magic and cast one spell after another using the same basic idea, and kind of same characters! The most wondrous thing is that the effect of spell continues to be mesmerising, each time in a fresh way!
Three pieces of string walk into a bar. He asks for a drink for himself and one for each of his friends. And the barman says, 'We don't serve pieces of string here.' To one of the pieces of string. So. It goes back to its friends and says, 'They don't serve strings here' And it's a joke, so the middle one does it too, three of them, you see, then the last one, he ties himself around the middle and he pulls the end of him all out. And he orders a drink." The rook croaked again, sagely. "Three drinks. Right. And the
barman says, 'here, aren't you one of those pieces of string?' And he says, the piece of string, he says, 'No.'I'm a frayed knot.' Afraid not, y'see, a frayed knot. Pun.

Well, Fortunately Milk, of course!
Then there are certain things which I learnt while reading the book. Two things actually.
1. Spoons are excellent. Sort of like forks, only not as stabby!
2. According to calculations of Dr. Stegosaurus, if same object from two different times touches itself, one of two things will happen. Either the Universe will cease to exist. Or three remarkable dwarfs will dance through the streets with flowerpots on their heads.
I know that sounds astonishingly specific, but Dr. Stegosaurus says it is science. And why would I doubt science or her calculations?

Bleh, it's just another amazing book by Gaiman. What's new about that? 🤷♂️
Yeah well, as interesting as the last paragraph of the story was, I didn't like the ending. Hence the three stars!
You know, when Gaiman says "Likely Stories" he never means likely stories. He means the ridiculous ghost kind of stories, most of which are super weird, has really no pepper end and fascinates you and which will never happen in life. These are definitely not the kind you would hear people mention while seating at a bar. What kind of place is that Diogenes club?
PS: I am pretty sure that all the stories in this books are being told by the narrator himself, the stories which he heard at that club which opens only after the other clubs are closed!

The book was weird and small (only 115 pages or so) with really large fonts.
Yes, that is my review of the book. I don't know what else to say.
The book was elegantly written, in fact a single sentence of the book had more elegance than all the books of Chetan Bhagat combined (sorry Bhagat's bhagts :P ). But I didn't understand it at all. Why was the book written? What was it that writer wanted to convey?
I hope that the other book of Marquez I am currently reading (Love at the time of Cholera) will make more sense!
