This book was so not what I was expecting, not at all! I almost stopped reading part way through, not for prudish reasons, mainly for the cringe factor, but for the good of my tiny Insta-community, I pushed through.
When I saw the cover of this in my libraries “New” section, I mistook it for YA. It is not. This was an unassuming sexy beach read. And when I say sexy, I refer to its storyline being crafted around porn stars & without giving too much away, the uptight trust-fund baby who loses her inhibitions.
If you’re after an easy-to-read, sauce-fest that *might* sway between making you laugh out loud & possibly turn you on... this one could be for you.

This book was captivating & haunting all at once. The way it’s presented makes it an easy read, the story itself, enough to pull you in & keep you locked in its pages, flicking furiously as you devour it quickly.
Mim, is a Mum on the run with her two precious children in search of her missing Husband. Placed in an unthinkable situation that feels all too frightening & weirdly relatable.
I went through so many emotions reading this book. I think Mildenhall is a terrific writer & look forward to whatever is next for her!

From the outset, it was clear that Glennon Doyle was in a very different place in her life writing this book, as opposed to #untamed
It comes across almost selfish to the point of narcissism at times, but when you really reflect on where she has came from, her entire story, you begin to see the real, honest growth that has come from her journey. I think I enjoyed the bravado with which she shared her humanness. There is gold to be found amongst these stories.
One of my favourite things about this author is her take on spirituality. I find myself nodding along & feeling more clarity in her views than I have in a long time when it comes to my beliefs. It’s very refreshing.
I honestly love her rawness & relatability. I feel she is my kind of person.

This is probably one of my favourite genres. I really enjoy the mystery, the thrill, those last chapters read at great speed to reach the conclusion... I always find these types of novels pull me out of my reading ruts!
This one started out slow & picked up the pace from about the middle. It wasn’t the best one I’ve read this year, but the end was good, it wasn’t what I had expected, which is always a nice surprise. You think you know the way it’s heading & then bam, direction change.
Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it.

This was one of the most eye-opening, humbling books I think I have ever read. I know very little about the Middle East, or refugees, or revolution. I am your average white westerner & my country has not seen the things contained within this novel.
This was both poignant & fearless in a way I have never experienced. I felt that I was educated by reading this. Nahr’s story is one that will stay with me.

Josephine, or “Joe” is all grown up, married & suddenly rehashing her childhood. As she delves into the memories, the “scandal” unfolds, revealing her version of events from twenty years previous.
This is an interesting perspective of the ruthlessness of teenage girls, the fickle friendships & loyalties, it had me reminiscing high school & those relationships, pondering my place within those now ancient stories.
The story didn’t end the way I expected it to, in fact half of it didn’t unfold the way I expected... I really did enjoy the writing style but anticipated something more from the storyline. Especially the ending.
I feel it needs a trigger warning as it alludes to sexual assault & could therefore be triggering to some.

This book was so... cute!
Admittedly it was a bit slow to start, it took me a bit to get into, but once the switch had occurred I found myself intrigued. It was worth the pushing through & by the end I loved every single character. And as you close in on those final pages, I guarantee you will have that same goofy smile & warm feeling in your romance-loving heart.

My feelings on this book: This ended up being a total surprise to me, it was not what I had expected at all! I didn’t see that ending coming when I started reading it... & it could have gone in a totally different direction & not quite hit the mark.
So Amy, our main character is in a long-term relationship with Tim, but Tim disappears at the same time her best friend mysteriously disappears. Eleven years later, Amy has become somewhat of a hoarder & a little bit weird, never having gotten over the loss of these two major relationships. Then a new family takes residence next door & with their arrival comes discoveries that, you guessed it, lead us to solving the mystery!!
This was an easy-to-read, but slower-moving book. I did feel like it really only got good around the 250 page mark. But it was definitely worth finishing.

This is the second book of Harrow’s that I’ve read in recent years. She has a beautifully imaginative way of writing. I loved the way she weaved history into this story. I loved the rhymes & the songs & the fairytales that became witchy words. I loved that the witches were the “good guys” despite being labeled the opposite.
I definitely got more into the story towards the latter end, which was the only thing I found difficult about this book, the length. It’s a super long book & I found it a little draggy at times but overall, an enjoyable story.
