This book as disappointing, unrealistic & I'm glad I only borrowed it from the library. Couldn't even bring myself to finish it.

This was the first novel by Ahern that I had read. She has an easy enough style & I found this book to be an enjoyable step away from the usual chick-lit storyline of sassy-girl-living-in-the-city-looking-for-love!

The story revolves around main characters Lou & Gabe. Lou, the protagonist, is a big shot corporate man, working his life away & missing out on the amazing adventure that is marriage & family! Gabe is a homeless man that befriends Lou & enters his life in a series of both unexplainable & sometimes patronising situations that lead to Lou making discoveries about himself & his misdirected longings.

I enjoyed this story & the way it reached out from the pages & clutched at my heart in a way not many books can. Do we treat our time with respect or do we waste the gift of time on something not worthy of its importance?

Would I buy the book to read again, probably not, but I would recommend it?

I reserved this new release at our local library. I hadn't heard of Liane before, but I was reading the latest book catalogue & reserved a few newer releases & this was one. It's probably not something I would have just picked up, & I was almost surprised when they handed it to me at the desk, but I was pleasantly surprised to have actually enjoyed it.

The story follows the life of Ellen, a hypnotherapist who has began dating Patrick, our male love interest. On their fourth date, Patrick announces that he has something important to discuss with Ellen, who assumes he is preparing to tell her things aren't working out. Instead he confesses to Ellen that his ex girlfriend Saskia has been stalking him. Ellen isn't as horrified about this as she probably should be, instead being fascinated & almost turned on by the thought of being watched. That is until Saskia's behaviour brings her a little too close for comfort.

I thought this story was well written & very realistic. It wasn't unbelievable & I was fascinated with the main character's line of work & interest in Saskia's stalker behaviour! I did find the "Dad" storyline an unneeded extra that probably didn't need to accompany the story. For this reason I found myself skipping chunks of the later part of the book to get back to the parts of the story that interested me.

This book would make a good holiday read.
