Any one who has/had a family member with dementia will be able to relate to this beautiful short story about a grandfather, his son and his grandson navigating his cognitive decline. I listened to the audiobook on Libby and had a good cry.

This was absolutely unhinged and I was not ready. Read trigger warnings before you read.

Miles was such a relatable character for me in so many different ways. I’m completely in awe with how the author continuously writes characters that have so much life and so much to learn from. The family dynamic also reminded me of my own and at times made me cry and reflect on how grateful I am for them and their willingness to understand and stick by my side regardless of who I am and who I love.

I’m actually super impressed by this story and how everything played out in the end. Was extremely relatable and triggering at times but I see why this story was told in this particular way with this particular MC. Also Doug and Roland can eat shit.

I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did. Left on a cliff hanger so I’m definitely reading the next book. Was a dark romance forbidden love reverse harem and all of the love interests were all lovable in their own ways.

Based on events in Puerto Rico during Hurricane Maria, this story about friendship, grief and revenge was super interesting to the end. I love how it tied Puerto Rican/Caribbean folklore as well as Yoruba influences. It felt authentic and true to the story. The book was nostalgic in a way for me and helped me feel close to my families culture. Although Bimbo came off as irrational sometimes, I related to his want and need for justice in an unjust world even if it meant doing it himself. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed this book sooo much I actually read the glossary that was at the back of the book which I will say was super cute. It had notes from the main characters of the story and I thought that was a great addition. The story was captivating and I loved how diverse and memorable everyone was. There were moments that I genuinely gasped and there was a thing or two that I kind of caught on to early on but overall I feel this was such a great first book for the series. Can’t wait to read the next one!
