I was really excited to read this book at first. the plot seeming really nice, and don't get me wrong it was. the book started off at a very nice pace, but at times had some really low points to where i wanted to put it down and not finish it. maybe 'casue it was set during the time of the holocaust? mabye becasue it is narrated by death? i don't know, why should i let those things stop me when i was horror movies, and stuff all the time. the two mixed together was good, and so was the book, but at times i did feel like is this book ever going to end? when it did i was saddened. this is not a happy book, and this is not one for all either. this is a book for teens i am an adult reading teen fiction, but i still do because i enjoy it most of the time, but at times i didn't even see it as a teen novel. so if you like historical fiction forget about it being a teen book and just read it.

Chevy Stevens does it again. A book I didn't want to put down.
This is one rollercoaster.
Lindsay and Andrew seem like the happy couple to start. they have a daughter Sophie. Andrew gets violent, and drinks heavy, Lindsay is afraid, and runs off with Sophie.
Andrew ends up in jail after an accident.
Years down the road he's released, and Lindsay is afraid Andrew is after her and Sophie.....if only they knew their worst enemy is not who they think it is.
I really love Chevy's novels. Not many can pull off twists like she can. I was close with my guess on this one.
I like the twists thrown at me, but at the same time I do like to guess.
Keep up the great work Chevy, now i can't wait for your next novel. Hopefully I only have to wait about a year.

this one took me a while to read. I my copy contains the trial between Constance and her mother. I do believe constance's story.
I will say in my option I've read cases a lot worse than hers.
I did find the book repetitive at times, and found myself skimming a lot. the grammer wasn't the best either. I know she was probably trying to put us in the mind when she was a child, but it didn't make sense to me with the grammer issues in the adults.
that being said, I will read her follow up book 'beyond ugly' sometime( it's on my shelf, just not my next read. )

A lot of people seem to either love this book or hate it. For my first time reading it I put myself in the middle. I know thats hard to say but it's true. Through the story he was telling and quotes of inspiration I felt a connection at times. At times I did find it difficult to read, but in all it was a great inspirational read.
I have read a few of Cathy's other books and I really fall in love with the stories. I started loving these types of books with Torey Hayden's "One Child". I do find them sad and heartbreaking, but most of the time they have a happy ending.
The first book of Cathy's I read was "Damaged" and I did find a lot of similarities to this book as well did Cathy in caring for Amiee she describes a few of them in the book. It breaks my heart that there are people out there who would hurt, abuse, and abandon a child.I am glad that there are books of these genres out there it shows theirs hope and happieness, and good people out there to help all the children that become forgotten.

yes i'm already finished with the book, and considering the time i started yesterday and the time i finished today, i finished in about a day. the first book i remember reading on these subjects was 'one child' by torey hayden and from that moment i was hooked on these types of books and for some reason i like books where there are stories of struggle, or sadness and hardships.i don't think i completely know why, but i do know i like them because when there about children like the little girl Jodie in the book good does come out at the end.
i did struggle reading parts of this book, but i also couldn't put it down. each turn of the page either brought more trouble and heartbreaking moments, or laughter and tears of joy. Jodie was a very damaged girl, with all the rejection she went through Cathy was able to help this damaged little girl and give her a chance of hope!
