CW: description of a fiery, car accident, death of a loved one, gang violence, police brutality, racism, racial slurs, physical fighting, imprisonment, grief, gun violence, death by shooting, violence.
The switch between point of view from 1st person to 3rd person took some getting used to. I listened on audio and read physically and I would recommend the audio. It's narrated so well with every detail. When the news reports came up, the narrator switched to a new's anchor voice to really capture the scenes. I also would've liked some stronger character development at the end for Justyce and we could've gotten more depth into his character. However, I'm wondering if that is what we get in the sequel, Dear Justyce. I also think Justyce deserved some black joy to combat the several heavy topics.
Overall, really great and impactful read about police brutality and being a young Black boy in America.

I loved the instances of anxiety. Mason described it so well and accurately. I also liked that we came on Ben’s adventure with them. This was so wholesome and I forgot how much I love these characters!
I loved how the book was written. great story. I really connected to these characters. At times, it had me blown away by the many plot twists. The ending was good.
I love how John Green portrays teenage romance differently than other authors. Augustus and Hazel had a special love, that made me very happy. His Dutch picnic was the cutest thing. He really did love her. What boy would spend his Wish on a girl? I was worried that Hazel wouldn't be able to go but when they flew to Amsterdam, I was as angry as Hazel when Peter van Houten was a jackass and didn't tell her what he promised her. Their first kiss wasn't as magical but in their kind of way it was. Later on in the book, my feelings towards him changed when he showed up at Gus' funeral. I was astonished when he showed up there. I'm glad Peter did tell her more about the book and I was not planning on Anna to be someone who was close to him, his own daughter. I figured as Hazel did that he treated her that way because he couldn't face her. I did feel bad for him, no one should have to lose a child especially as young as she was. He sounded like a great father. During my reading, I had thoughts about how was to pass away first. My first intent was Hazel but towards the middle of the book, I thought Gus and then it happened. I wasn't too surprised, but it hit my heart when I had to read that line. No tears, just sorrow. Gus was a lovely guy and a great friend. The things he had done for Isaac were incredible along with his words of encouragement. I giggled when he broke his basketball thropies and when they threw eggs at Monica's car. Gus was also a witty guy, I liked that. He made me laugh from time to time. Hazel was also as interesting as Augustus. They were literally perfect for each other. I do wish the book had went on because I wanted to know if Peter would talk at Hazel's funeral when she passed. Overall, I enjoyed this book greatly. I hope I enjoy the movie as much as the book.
I will review all the books before Christmas. Felt it was very long and some of the stories were strange.
Full review coming.
Jubilee Express: I loved Maureen Johnson, the dialogue was funny/witty and written very well!
A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle: This was such a John Green story, it's just something about his style.. it's fascinating. Tobin reminded me of Pudge from Looking For Alaska in some ways. It was chaotic, but a cute love story. But, I didn't really enjoy it that much.
The Patron Saint of Pigs : I didn't like Addie, she was very full of herself and that bothered me. Also, how her friends called her out on it was rude.
I love how all these stories interconnected, the authors did a great job with it. It was humorous and suspenseful.

This has such a great message, it's very different from what I usually read. It was hard for me to get into at first but, I really enjoyed it!
From all of John Green's books, I feel that this was most different and I enjoyed that a whole lot. I really didn't have any problems with it and the ending was great - surprisingly. I thought the characters were very unique aside from John's other characters. Out of all of his books, these characters are my favorite. I am setting this as no.1 on my invisible list of my favorite books of his.
