It’s well-written and sweeping, but only gives you snippets as opposed to deep storytelling.

I felt like I was being gently guided to understand the meaning of life. The topics explored here are certainly deep and the lessons learnt clear.

I loved the anonymity of the boy throughout.

Pulley can do no wrong. This was beautiful. But it all felt a little surface level and the end happened far too quickly. I’d have happily spent more time with these characters.
challenging dark tense

This was disturbing and difficult to read. But outside of these moments, it was reflective and challenging in a whole new way.

The most disturbing part of this book was how believable I found it. I could see exactly how we could get to those point. The true terror of this book is the near dystopian Orwellian world we find ourselves in.

I’m lucky that I can’t really visualise as I read - if I could, I’m not sure I would have made it through some of these scenes.
dark tense fast-paced

I sat and read this 500 page book in a day. I couldn’t stay away. It’s tense, gritty and makes your chest hurt with the suspense.
fast-paced

Wtf is this? What have I read? Unnecessary, uncomfortable sex scenes. Insane Insta-love and too many people with zero morals. What a mess. This is the type of thriller that thinks it’s clever for not telling you everything and then expects you to be impressed when it reveals its lied to you all the way through.

It gets a bonus star because it was hard to put down.
dark emotional fast-paced

Impossible to put down with fantastic twists. Would have been a 5 star if Audrey was less whiny and annoying. Half of her problems would have been solved if she just spoke to people honestly…

The crime part was really brilliant though. Lots of red herrings but enough for you to take a stab at it too. With a romance subplot that didn’t feel too forced or written so badly you grimace.

The atmosphere is dark and tense. It’s the perfect setting for a book like this.
adventurous dark funny hopeful reflective fast-paced

This was a brilliant sci-fi with fantasy elements. I loved the characters, the world-building was a little clunky to begin with but those characters pull you through, and a wonderfully twisting plot.

It’s a book about grief, revenge and climate change. It’s a book about challenging governments and holding them accountable regardless of risk… it feels very timely.
