Better than the first one for sure. The end was a wild cliffhanger lol. I still think Arwen and Kane’s relationship/romance is stale but it’s fine. Personally I really like griff and Mari

I really enjoyed the ending scenes where they go to an island of prisoners. Love that idea and wish they spent more time there. I really hate how many times Arwen “dies” in this book but guys… find a different twist please.

i think my favorite quote was "you looked really cute wielding that candlestick"...

Basically the same start/premise as Spark of the Everflame but worse. Tell me why the author wrote a note in the beginning and said “this is my first book”, and all I thought while reading was, “yeah it shows.”

Pros:
- I think the premise of different kingdoms as different stones is really unique.
- I also do enjoy the “he falls first” trope
- I liked her healer friend Mari and the

Cons:
- not written the best. Hard to feel immersed in the story
- I was NOT bought into their romance at all

Really enjoyed this sequel. I definitely feel like it’s a slower romantasy, but I’m not against it.

Pros:
- really enjoyed the flashback scenes to add context to everything
- I do enjoy the relationship between the main 2 but am not die hard yet. We’ll see

Cons:
- slower
- a touch predictable

i thought i'd want to rate this lower since it felt a little predictable but i can't say that i didn't thoroughly enjoy every second of reading this. i love that the little girl, harper, was so easily convinced with m&ms lol

i do feel like the twist of the wife duping the nanny/supposed liar is super predictable, but i can't say i saw the wife wanting to frame the nanny for murder coming...

here is a summary just for myself:

sloane is a crazy girl and lies about weird shit in her life. She was a teacher at a rich kid school and started tutoring a student and then ended up stalking the mom, dying her hair the same color as the mom and shit. She ended up getting fired and working at a nail salon. While at the nail salon, she takes her lunch at a work and meets a man that she thinks is hot. Lightly stalks him, helps his daughter when she stings her foot on a bee, and says she’s a nurse. Finds herself the nanny and becoming friends with the man’s wife.

Long story short, she is getting duped by the wife. The wife is taking her on walks to lose weight and eating more to look more like Sloane. Once Sloane dies her hair the same color as the wife’s, she helps her get her hair cut to the same style. Asks Sloane to go on a family vacation with them with the goal of killing Sloane who is impersonating the rich girl and then escaping with the daughter. Ultimately, Sloane convinces the wife she will help her escape her husband and send him to jail. The story ends with Sloane and the wife living both as Sloane in CA and parenting the daughter. Super weird but I honestly was here for it.

uhh maybe 2.5....... but that feels generous

i genuinely have no idea WTF happened in this book. i feel like the middle was just a bunch of random stuff. maybe listening to it was to my detriment, but i also don't really care about the characters. i probably won't continue the series unless i see an overwhelmingly positive response from the next book

ending-
sooo.......... old calla is really an old princess reincarnated and then jumped to otta (otta is still alive??????????????????????? idk) and new calla is just a poor girl who has now taken the throne??? i think. anton is just anton.

Definitely falls within the “unfortunately it was the last 100 pages” category

Loved how it ended and the plot progression we got, did not love the journey there. Probably could’ve cut at least 200 pages. Excited to get back to poppy’s story after learning more about the draken and revenants though!
