This was a book that got rave reviews from my friends, so I thought I give it a try. As a whole, I enjoyed the book, but I don't think I loved it as my friends did. For me, the book had a very slow start to it. Usually, I love when authors just throw us into the world. I'm left intrigued and unable to stop reading/listening. However, I found myself lost a lot, not quite understanding what was going on.
This confusion took a while to unravel since I was about 40% through the book before the real action started and I had a firm grasp on how this world worked. Once the action started, I was drawn in. There were some more slow parts here and there, but the character development started, the plot really started, and I was really interested to know what was going to happen. Then I got to the end, and now I will be picking up the next book in the series because I'm hooked.
I wish it didn't take so long for the story to really start, but as a whole, I did enjoy the book and can't wait to find out what happens in the next!

During a D&D game, my DM and fellow players brought up this book as a joke, and I was the only one who hadn't read it, so I decided to add it to my list and see what it was about. I know the movie is very different, but I hadn't even seen that. Luckily, I knew the plot, which was all I needed to dive into the book.
For a book written for younger readers, I thought it was really good. I listened to the audiobook and was in love with the voice acting. It was a lot of fun and the narrator had so much energy and character. She really brought Ella to life.
The story was a lot of fun, and really hard to put down. I really wanted to finish it to get to the end. I wanted to know how she cured her curse. This is totally a book I would recommend this book for my nephews and niece. I think this book would be perfect for them and they would have a lot of fun reading it, once they're old enough. Only one can read right now.
I didn't give it a perfect rating because while I enjoyed it, I didn't love it, and for me, it isn't something I know I'll reread in the future. It was a fun book, and I'm happy I finally read it.

It's rare for a show/movie to be better than the book, but I did enjoy the show more than I enjoyed the book. The book was cute, but I loved how fleshed out the side characters were in the show. They were so charming and cute. Boomer was my favorite in the show, and he's barely in the book. The show, of course, had more time to flesh out the side characters, but they also threw Boomer in right from the start.
Without saying any spoilers, I also liked how the show handled the end. I really enjoyed that drama over what was written in the book.
All in all, it was a cute book. Not amazing, not great, but cute. The show was a lot cuter, and I recommended it a lot, but I don't think I'll throw the book around as a recommendation as much. If someone wants a quick, cute, and mindless read, then I would 100% recommend this book. If not, then, I feel like you can pass on this book and just enjoy the show.

I was really worried going into this book because I found his other book, The Way of Kings, so boring. It sucked because so many of my friends love the book. However, I trust my friends, and when they told me this series was better, I decided to try it out.
I'm happy I did because I found this book way better than "The Way of Kings." I found this book very compelling. While his other books felt like the action was never coming, and I spent 16 hours listening to build-up, we're thrown right into the action in this book. He does duh a better job at world-building in this book. I'm happy I won't have to turn to my friends and inform them that I hated their favorite book again because I truly despised doing that; I felt like I let them down. Now I can sit here and tell them I really liked it. Now, I can't say I loved it as my friends do, but I really enjoyed it and I'm going to keep going with the series.
The world that has been created here is super unique and very interesting. More than that though, I really loved the characters. My favorite thing about the book is that the characters grow stronger through their bonds. I'm a real sucker for found family, and this book was oozing it.
I currently waiting for the next book from my library, but I'm excited to pick it up and continue the story.
