If you like high fantasy and strong female characters, this book is for you. Although it was originally published in '92, it feels like old fantasy to me, something from the 70s or maybe 80s. In any case, it was a fairly engaging tale, if a touch predictable, and there were a lot of great women in this. I feel like I've been starved for awesome ladies in fantasy lately, and this definitely solved that problem.

It's the first book in a trilogy, although it doesn't end abruptly. I don't think that I liked it enough to find the other two books, but if you're really into high fantasy then it's worth picking up. I'm just really picky with high fantasy novels.

This book was written in a matter-of-fact style that worked very well -- the dry British humor is very evident. The various storylines all came together in a satisfying way, and all of the characters were fun and funny. This is a kind of popcorn fantasy that I enjoyed.

I really, really enjoyed this book. Hawk & Fisher are now some of my favorite characters in literature. I wouldn't say that it was amazingly written, but the characters and their adventures held my attention very well. It was funny and the world-building was interesting. If you like mysteries, buddy cop movies, supernatural policing, and/or strong ladies kicking ass, this series is for you.

Hawk and Fisher return for another extraordinary adventure. I think that the plotline was extremely well-constructed in this book -- I was guessing all the way up until the ending, which was very satisfying in itself. I also really loved the little moment that Hawk and Fisher had at the end of the story... we know they are married, but we hardly see them be affectionate to each other, and this book had a couple of really great examples of that caring. Really enjoyed this.

Cabot's Mia is always wonderful and charming with strong, fun character voices. I'm a little surprised at the direction this series has moved in, but I'm willing to give it a chance, still -- this book was certainly just as entertaining as the first.
