What We Do in Secret follows Karla who recently finished an extended mental health stay. One day, new neighbors move in next door and suddenly she has a new obsession. She spends months getting close to them trying to figure out what secrets they're hiding.
This book is so fast paced and Karla is the definition of an unreliable narrator. We never know if what she's experiencing is due to a hallucination or real. This was really good and thrilling to read. 5/5 stars.

the story was unsettling to say the least but there didn't seem to be a point to the book?
fairly interesting
Letters to an Embryo is a very introspective memoir about the author's journey with her frozen embryo after a divorce. This was super vulnerable and had great insight into the mindset of someone going through IVF but with extra complications. I was worried the whole book that by the time we got to embryo transfer it would fail and the rest of the book would be about parsing through grief. Overall, a very interesting read. 4/5 stars.

sometimes you read a book for the hype and it actually lives up to it
