Libby is stuck in an abusive marriage after her also abusive grandfather coerced her into marrying her husband. When June appears to work for her neighbors, they become friends, and it's not long before their relationship turns romantic and sexual. June also helps Libby be free of the terrible men in her life. I really liked this novellette. The religious guilt and trauma Libby deals as she has fun with June felt so authentic. I'm excited to read more stories by Emma E. Murray.

Just remembered that I read this in 2022 and how it took me two weeks to get through it. I cannot remember any of the characters or what happens other than the fact that there's a romance and a lot of sex and how bored and exhausted I was while I read this.

Kitty appears to be a well-adjusted young woman except for one thing, which is her obsession with missing limbs. She tells herself it's just curiousity until she acts out on her desire. Even if this is only 42 pages it still left me unsettled. Everything I've read from Candace Nola always impresses me and Nubs is no exception.

Newlyweds Elenya and Myles have moved into an affordable new apartment. Unfortunately on the first day they find mold in the kitchen. In the span of three days the mold takes over the entire apartment and their bodies until they're coming apart and unable to go outside. Occasionally their obnoxious neighbor Brad talks to them through the window. Brad really sucks, fuck Brad. Anyway this book is horrifying, funny and tragic. The transformation Elenya and Myles go through with the mold is so gross. Myles's long tangents about commercials for Taco Bell and Doritos made me feel a combination of annoyed and amused. Despite the occasional cringey dialogue and the existence of Brad I really enjoyed this book and I am excited to read more from Danger Slater.

I tried to read this but I can't stand the writing and seeing the word "deado" really annoyed me. Maybe if I ever have access to the audiobook I'll give this another chance, but that's a huge maybe.

The writing in this book is so exquisite. It is toldin vignettes and is a fictionalized autobiography of the author's life as she grows up during a war with her grandparents and father after her mother dies when she's two, has a breakdown as an adult and spends time in a psych ward, and living with her girlfriend. I will definitely read this again someday.

A vampire hunter and his assistant take Mr Higgins to the castle where he was made into a werewolf and promise to kill him with a silver bullet. This had both scary and funny moments and the illustrations are exquisite.

A serial killer is targeting sex workers, and when he kills Sylvia's sister Penny, she decides to arm herself with a hook and sets out to hunt him down. This novella does a great job at showing how sex workers are dehumanized, like how the cops make no effort to find the serial killer. It's only when a john is murdered that the cops start trying to find him. I also appreciate that the serial killer is never named and there's no description of what he looks like to emphasize that he could be any random man on the street. There's a sapphic romance between Sylvia and a reporter named Crystal which I liked seeing, but at the same time it felt like it happened too fast in my opinion. I really hope this novella goes back in print someday.

Noah Fairchild suspects something is wrong with his parents so he makes the stupid decision to drive to their home to check on them. He ends up getting violently attacked by them and then realizes that everywhere around the US many white people are attacking their families and anyone in their vicinity. He then makes his way to his brother's home, finds his nephew Marcus and does his best to make it home to his wife and daughter.

This book does a good job at showing how easy it is for anyone to become brainwashed by what they see online or on television. Noah's brother Asher and their parents watch Fax News (I will forever have "Just the fax" stuck in my head 🤢), Asher's wife Devon goes down a wellness rabbit hole, and their son Caleb adopts incel mentality. While this book mostly pokes fun at republicans, democrats are not let off the hook as they shouldn't be either. Anyway this is a really intense possession horror mixed with moments of found footage horror. I didn't exactly enjoy it but I was absolutely captivated. There is some gross sex scenes that added nothing to the story other than to gross out the reader but besides that this is an excellent horror novel that I will be thinking about for a long time.

Stellar anthology about how capitalism is garbage and everyone who is not born into wealth is forced to participate in it. In these stories, people can die trying to get frozen yogurt, die a painful death after a demon boss snaps his fingers, have to choose between joining a cult or continuing to work a shitty job, pay a huge amout of money for a robot baby, and suffer through a bunch of other ridiculous and scary situations all just to find some stability in the chaos that capitalism causes. I liked reading all of these stories and I'm glad I took my time getting through this anthology. Definitely recommend this to readers who enjoy horror and despise capitalism.
