It's hard to describe this book. I want to say beautiful, but that do it justice. I love Imp and Abalyn and Eva Canning. Abalyn's job as a reviewer for video games gave me hope that it's okay for me to do what makes me happy, which is reviewing books.

Before reading The Drowning Girl, I was definitely not expecting to be mesmerized by the writing. There were times when it got confusing, but I'm sure that was Kiernan's intent so it won't lose a star for that. And while it was confusing, it never got boring, even when Imp digressed.

To anyone planning to read this, don't expect a simple story. But you can expect a story with elegance, heartbreak, and masterful writing.
