I actually really enjoyed this. I will admit there were a few times where I almost gave up but something me reading the story and I am glad. There are some editing issues mainly with quotation marks and occasionally the dialogue was a little awkward at some points and pushed that fourth wall a little ("He couldn't love a vampire...could he?") but the story was well paced and always gave enough to make you want to read more. I think it is worth an attempt and at just over 200 pages may not take one longer than a rainy afternoon.
I really enjoyed this book. It is slightly reminiscent of Bridget Jones (which the narrator also says about herself at one point)but I will admit to laughing out loud more with this book then I did with Bridget. I also really enjoyed the tone of the narrator and found the book easy to follow without being overly simplistic. There are predictable situations here especially the one that is called out at the very beginning of the story, and it is at its core a sweet love story. I would read this one again and would definitely recommend it to all my friends. I also look forward to anything else that this author may put out.
This was a cute book -- I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would to be honest! I liked the new take on the vampire lore as well as the historical setting. I loved the back and forth chemistry between Angelica and Ian and how their companionship grew into love. I found Angelica to be an enjoyable heroine without being too flighty and Ian was just the right amount of alpha and smoldering male. The only thing I felt took a bit away were the ones involving secondary characters, mainly Rosetta (who was by fair too naïve about how her plans would turn out even with being a new vampire) and Polidori. Overall though an enjoyable read and something I would pick up again as well as others by this author.
The more I thought about this book the more I wasn't a fan. It wasn't even the fact that it was a serial romance (as it were) -- I found it incredibly fast paced and jumpy, with no sense or warning about changes of scenes, characters, or POVs (although that could have been more due to the ebook formatting). Plus it was incredibly fast paced and it seemed like everything was crammed in to meet some type of paper minimum. I found the hero was painted in the "muddled" light the entire book only to have a different facet of him shown later, plus I never really got how he was "bosom-bows" with the two gentlemen in the story. Altogether a very fumbled, jumbled book and not something I can recommend.
