I am a big fan of the "cozy" mysteries with the female sleuths and these yummy titles but when I read them I don't expect too much. I have to say I was pleasantly suprised with this one as the heroine wasn't some overly bumbling character who doesn't guess the mystery correctly. Plus I thought the mystery was engaging without being too over the top and plus I'm one of those that I enjoy getting into the mind of the villian occasionally. I did feel that this was an overly "busy" book with all the different stories and back stories but it is pretty far into the series so it could be tying up loose ends and sewing the seeds for more to come. Plus I really want to try some of the recipes in this book with some of my female foodie and book nerds! Let's just say that with most other mystery books like this (example the Leslie Meier series) I'm not really inspired to rush out and pick the others up right away but I am with this one. I also look forward to reading other series by this author under her various different pen names.
