I know the author is best known for The Hating Game, but I liked this much better! A more interesting, flawed, strong, messy heroine who is just trying her best to get by - and pursue the man of her dreams even though it's risky and hard.
I will eventually return to this one since I like this author and the first book, but the plot was REMARKABLY similar to a book I read about a month ago, The Falling In Love Montage. There's one "romance is everywhere" protagonist who tries to convince the "romance is dead" protagonist that true love does exist by acting out popular romcom tropes. The two books are quite similar, even down to the "oh no, I have to pee but we're stuck on the top of a Ferris Wheel" scene.
I've seen all of Mike Birbiglia's comedy specials and this book was a hilarious and thoughtful follow up - esp since he narrated the audiobook himself!
While I feel lightly embarrassed to have read a book in a series literally called #gaymers, it was so interesting and hot that it's hard to mind
