Listened to this in one day - very funny, baffling, and never ending stories of racism. You wouldn't think this book would be so engaging, but it really was.
The motto of this book should be "Life is hard, and sometimes there's diarrhea." Highly recommend.
I loved that this was about a Black teen who loves fan fiction and romance who wants to be a protagonist in her own life (hello, this is me, my word of the year is literally "protagonist") who finds love right in front of her.
Best line of the book that I had to write down: "Sam is wearing those cargo pants that zip off at the knee, you know, to, like, make shorts? Why they even make these I have no idea. Do people find themselves in situations often where they have to quickly change the length of their pants? I like Sam a lot, but these pants don't belong anywhere in my love story."

I love a good "a series of chance encounters and random circumstances leads to love" situation
I also love a "fake boyfriend turned real" situation. They both followed their hearts despite parental disapproval and they found each other (and their true passions).
Quite ridiculous, I bought this for $7 at a used bookstore and did not think it was worth that amount.
I was fully prepared to love this as it is a BIPOC romance based around a cooking show. It is ok at best.
