Spooky!

It’s disconcerting that I don’t remember downloading this story. But thankfully I’ve never had a kidney transplant so I’m not too worried...

I don’t read much horror/suspense, so I have nothing to compare this to. It was sufficiently horrifying and creepy though, so yay! Success. It was easy to follow and the empty hopeless grief felt real enough to keep you reading and hoping for a happy ending. Even knowing it probably won't come.

I've really enjoyed the story so far. Being apocalyptic-but-not-really, it reminded me of Y: The Last Man. Instead of everyone dying like in The Walking Dead or other apocalyptic stories (though there’s lots of death), everything changes in the blink of an eye.

It’s a good story if you like to contemplate what would happen if xyz thing just suddenly changed in the world. Here, it’s animals becoming conscious/sentient. Who hasn’t wondered what their pet would say or do if they could talk? Read this and you might sleep with one eye open.
