Libby is a fresh of breath air, she isn't your typical snarky UF heroine that get's away with everything.
Oh she got spunk alright, she got snark! But in her personal life. As a professional she is exactly that: a professional.
She doesn't skirt away page after page on pure luck. She is intelligent and she is hardworking. She is the creme of the creme when it comes to her trade.
She shows a causality toward murder that fits her profession while still showing that..
Yes, she can be disturbed.
Yes, she can be scared.
She comes across as a real person to me, with layers upon layers.

Holy smokes this was good!
Personally, I prefer female leads in my urban fantasy. It means I'm picky with my male leads, and grow easily bored and leave books. There is only 2 or 3 series with male leads that have been good enough for me to keep coming back for the next in line and this one just blew my mind.
I was.. very judgemental over the name. Ethan Drake? Might as well just name yourself John Smith. But I gave it a shot, and I instantly fell in love with Ethan.
I've never had a character do that beautiful edge of villain and hero so well. He doesn't give a shit, he kills or have people killed without second thought while at the same time.. not really caring to be cast in the role of hero either. He just sees bad shit and bad people and sometimes deals with them. And sometimes keeps their names in the back of his head as a reward for the little serial killer sidekicks he has under his control.
I loved the little hellcritters he has, I loved the obscenity of them, of slapping a dead corpse with their little devil penises. It was so hilarious and so out of this world that it just.. fit perfectly. Best sidekicks ever.
I cannot wait for the next read.
