Magical and whimsical, and a touch of historic fantasy. This was a lovely read!

I'm fairly charmed by Penric and Desdemona, at just under 100 pages it is a fairly quick read and only offers the bare foundation of a universe and with 12 books in the series I hope I'll see it grow into it.

I had.. a little problem with some of the words used in the book. It felt very.. dated. Like the author wanted a middle-ages kind of feel to things so they tossed really old words around that I personally barely understood. (Tho, for the record, English being my 2nd language and not being very well versed in High Fantasy this might simply be a lack of experience talking)

As for what this book is about, it's the typical setting of where the main character treats another being more humane than anyone else before has, and thus said being grows fond of the main character. Which is a very well worn out theme, but I absolute adore the whole demon-sharing-your-body kind of tale. And here, you don't just have one demon inside, you got like 12! The demons have also only been in female bodies up until now, so they come off as being female and this lays the foundation of some of the humor in the book. Which I personally really enjoyed.

+ High Fantasy Novella
+ Somewhat Cozy feel
+ Liked the male MC
+ Sensible chuckles were had, potential for more chuckles!

- A fair deal of unknown words used (for me)
- Definitely felt like an episodic novella, whose ending didn't feel satisfying at all. (aka it just felt like the end of a chapter in the middle of a normal book)
