I really enjoyed this book! It's fast and fun and steamy.  It's not one that will stick in my head for a long time, but I had few complaints with it and am eager to get my hands on the rest of the Halifax Hellions.

What was most impressive was that it was a novella but never felt like insta-love or irritatingly-surface-level which novellas tend to do.  The beginning was a bit abrupt and hard to follow, but that's what gave the solid backstory for the characters and relationships to feel not-abrupt. Okay words are failing me right now, but what I'm trying to articulate is that this was a novella done right.

-boy falls first
-brother's best friend
-very experienced bi heroine
-only one bed/random cottage when caught in the rain
-only one horse
-"road-trip" quest to Gretna Green to stop her sister's elopement
-different classes
-lots of chemistry and tension and spicy scenes

If anything I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, but I may just be used to eplilogues. I'm excited to see more of Margo and Henry in Matilda's book.

The audiobook narration was incredible and I will definitely be checking out more stories read by Mhairi Morrison.

y'all I loved this audiobook! it definitely has a spice-forward taste, but no complaints here!

I am slowly exploring indie-romance and I think this is where it's at. It's just like any category of anything, you have to find your fit, but I think I'm finding it!

I loved that our main girl is in therapy and we get a peak into those exchanges and how they impact her daily life.

He's a hot and scarred hockey player-turned coach.

There's a lot of backstory drama that's randomly complicated, but it's presented in such a way that you're just like "of course she was dumped via facetime at her wedding and her ex is now a professional hockey goalie on her dad's NFL team and now she accidentally had a one night stand with the man who will be working for her dad to coach the ex because he has the yipps and oh yeah she's breaking her years-long hockey ban to work in the organization again...." see? it sounds unnecessarily convoluted, but Avery Flynn writes the story with such flow that it's painless and exciting!

I laughed, I squeeled, and I kicked my legs!

It's a fun lil hockey romance if you're looking for a true smut book (spice = plot).

I loved this.
big fan. mad shocked. a little too gorey for my taste, but like still ate it up (poor choice of words). i mean i did finish at four am and when I went to the bathroom I saw our front room light was on but was too scared fromt he book to go turn it off so I just left it on and locked my bedroom door (sorry Belinda).

But this book is a slump breaker!!!

Perfect for spooky season but I think it could be read year round! Might have to re-visit it between April 10th & 13th to keep it fresh ;)

I laughed out loud more than I have in a long time! Ali Hazelwood level humor. With Sara Cate level smut. And Dexter/Mr. Right/Hannibal Lectur level mischief.
