If you just ignore the dumbest marriage of convenience plot and their total lack of communication skills for grown adults and all of Jasper’s alphahole red flags, it’s a lovely charming steamy book!
I am so shocked to give this five stars. The first half I was just like uhhh..... I don't like this premise. And then I got INVESTED! I love the characters and and the story and really think it's a creative book. It takes a lot for a book to feel original these days, especially in the contemporary romance genre, but this one was. It would be an amazing movie. I don't think it needs to be a series event though that's what it was optioned for. It's moving.
it was just fine. dare I say, boring and uncompelling?
I did like the portrayal of first love and it was my favorite portrayal of a "first time." It was also unique that it was a second chance romance without the dual timeline. (thank God)

I liked this one more than Spoiler Alert I think? It's defo a slow burn with subtle pining to insane love overnight, but at least it had months of friendship at the foundation. The conflict was so annoying, but at least it didn't drag too long.
It also wasn't that spicy. And that spice everyone was hoping for from the first one wasn't really in here.... just saying. Don't get your hopes up.
There was one romantic gesture that got me <3
def written for fanfic loving nerds
I do like how the books in this series overlap.
ADHD rep was excellent

This reminded me a lot of the Smythe-Smith quartet (especially Just Like Heaven or The Sum of All Kisses, I can't quite recall which). Anyway, I usually give these steady predictable slow burns with just a little spice 3 stars but this book pulled me out of my listening slump so it gets 3.5!
Julia Quinn knows how to write period romances where the women don't like to fit in boxes and their suitors admire them all the more for it.
Billie was the hetero Gentleman Jack!
I own the second one in this series (The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband) because Dad bought it for me at The Ripped Bodice because the title reminded him of me... so tbd if I read that one or listen. But maybe I'll skip around. I definitely think I'll make my way through all of Julia Quinn's series in this lifetime.

It was fine. A really fun listen and exactly what I needed.
She’s an industrious woman who owns a toilet company, has mommy issues, and happens to be the granddaughter of a viscount.
He’s an American entrepreneur descended from the Astors who owns a chain of theaters.
They’re in business competition but then he falls for her and falls hard.
Insta love but like I love them.
Hornier than julia Quinn but still not that explicit or steamy.
Good audiobook.
Also gorgeous engagement ring!!!

I love the Lady Danburry-ness of it all. Probably forgettable but a unique and exciting ish story. But also SA (or attempted SA) on page is just so 90s can you not.
Cute story and lots of smut, but I didn’t click with the writing style. A but stiff/formal. Cringe. He set her up a Zoom and she was like “what?” and he said “I set up a virtual call for you.” Who the hell says that?
Love this inter-ability romance <3
She has rheumatoid arthritis and is on the autism spectrum. He is a Shakespeare-nerd, professional hockey playing virgin.
He falls first.
Inexperienced hero (but it's not really a thing).
Professional athlete.

I am now up to date on the Bergmans!
