Just like with Sea of Tranquility, the first half I was bored and curious how people like literary fiction. Then in the second half I was intrigued and super absorbed. Then after finishing the book I realized I liked it.

Super fun and flirty! All I needed from this couple. I just wish there had been a little more at the end with them all loved up. But it's instant, and abrupt. But it's a novella!
Also I know everyone loves duet narration, but it's not my thing :/

This was my first contemporary romance by Elizabeth Hoyt (aka Julia Harper). Since she's been MIA forever. (THOUGH SHE'S BACK NEXT WEEK!!!)
it was a romantic suspense. I actually loved the romance and chemistry and dual pov. But it was insta-lust/love. But the months of knowing of each other as neighbors helped that.
The suspense storyline SUCKED.
Not the spiciest, but still a couple scenes.
I'll continue with the series. Definitely dated in the 2010s with language. According to Reddit "swarthy" is not a rude term, but I think being raised by a tribe of self-critical women, it has a negative connotation for me.

And when I felt like I was an old cardigan
Under someone's bed
You put me on and said I was your favorite
Emily Henry's books are a like my favorite cardigan! I've had a journey with her books, and while this won't be my FAVORITE book or anything, the writing, banter, chemistry, and THE MAN reminded me why Emily Henry is the wittiest and coolest writer in town!
Julia Whelan's narration?!?!!! perfection!
I do think this was trying to have the friends-to-lovers soul-seeing connection of people we meet on vacation but on a different timeline. Comparison is the thief of joy, and when thinking of Alex and Poppy, these two characters (whose names I've already forgotten) fall short, but I do think it has that same soul-mate feeling. (This woman was also a MUCH LESS relatable character than Poppy for me.)
I want a library read-a-thon, and a bearded, croc-wearing, winery, bar tender man!
ALSO A LOVE LETTER TO NORTHERN MICHIGAN!!! I'm mad overdue for a Michigan summer.
the third act conflict was sooooo lame
the last chapter ex-best-friend "resolution" is so solid!
