I enjoyed some of the themes throughout the book, how the characters grew, and the slight enemies to lovers thing that was happening. I'm excited to get my hands on the second book.

A perfect way to start October by having a short scary story. It wasn’t gory, but if left me with chills running down my spine. 

Complicated family relations and so many people died in less than 40 pages. Still had a happy ending though?

A cozy mystery but it wasn’t really for me 

I really enjoyed this book and it really showed a number of social norms and hardships people could face. While it is a work of fiction, the  descriptions used made me feel like I could be in the rooms where the events were happening. 

I really struggled to get through this book, and I’m sure for the right person this would be awesome. For those looking for romance, this isn’t it. I started reading this book hoping for a sci-fi, and that was there, but it’s largely just one big jousting tournament in space. 

The beginning of the book dragged but I was entertained by the end. At least this book had no watery bowels. 

It was an enjoyable read. I liked the LGBT rep, the plot of learning something new to uncover the mystery of what happened to the sister, and the overall plot. However, I didn’t really like the dual perspectives in this book as I think it took a certain shock value away. 

I enjoyed the plot of a teacher sending her underlings on one final heist, the romance was good, and I enjoyed the overarching plot. 

A good into to pirates and the background information. It was a quick read, but still had brought up some interesting points.
