This book was one I had to read in chunks. There is gossip, drama, and plotting; but there’s also sweet, humorous, and lovable moments too.

It has fall vibes, and if you’re in need of an afternoon read, this is a book for you.

This could be a weekend read, but it has good side characters, main character, and a great plot. The world building, magic systems, and lore are excellent and I’m excited to read the second book

I’m also happy that the pet that gets saved in the beginning of the book gets some growth as well.

Because I just wasn’t vibing with the main character at this point in time, and maybe I’ll come back to this book when I feel like I want gossip.

This book is so good. From a spooky book being written from the perspective of a child, to the magical realism, it left me feeling bewildered in a good way.

Plus, there’s cats in the book, which I liked.

The representation of LGBTQIA+ women is a big driving factor to this book, and showed a few different types of relationships from monogamous to polygamous. The main character wasn’t relatable to because she’s mourning the death of her best friend when she finds somebody else to fall in love with, almost in a “oh, new shiny thing” kind of way. I finished this book in a day simply because I didn’t want to dedicate multiple days to this, as the interesting characters didn’t get that much time, multiple questions were left at the end of the book, and the world building was lacking.

I really enjoyed this book, because of the different types of characters. Some were lovable, some were annoying, and others helped the plot drive forward. The plot twist was well deserved and really made the mystery come alive. The multiple character perspectives was also easy to follow.
