Epilogues are hard. Often everything comes together just too pat, and many times I find it detracts from the depth of the original story (Harry Potter, anyone?). This epilogue, while somewhat necessary due to the rushed ending of the original book, still falls prey to this problem.

Sure, Jane is now a respectable duchess, but it doesn't detract from the bizarre inexplicable turnaround she had on respectability at the end of the previous book. Honestly, be his mistress, don't be his mistress, I really don't care either way, but stick to your principles one way or the other. Or at least have SOME reasoning for changing your mind.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. The plot is a little Thor Love & Thunder, but I liked putting the god-like beings of the Star Trek universe in perspective the way it does. The crew is so good, I want to see more of them interacting with each other. And the OCs are really solid, especially T’Lir. (My only quibble was when Jake compared them to Spock, because… Vulcans?
