That was a freaking RIDE. Up, down, sideways, and under. Fun but a bit all over the place. (And if I never read another instance of the clitoris being referred to as a “little bead” it’ll be too soon.) Enjoyable though, and I’ll probably give the next one a shot.

It’s clear how Kennedy’s writing has grown over the course of this series. The relationship between Kyla & Eric may be the most fleshed out she’s done, and there’s no sudden crisis or trips to the hospital that pop up out of nowhere in this one, but both of their insecurities are real and play out well. I still wish we could get away from the bananas age-gaps though. This one is expressly stated too: she’s 19, he’s 27. And he’s been in love with/crushing on her for a while? Eek. There’s just no need for it. Make her older, make him younger and this book would have played out exactly the same.

More solid four stars

The little things about Kennedy’s writing that bothered me in the first installment of this series have been GREATLY remedied here. I do feel like I’ve been hit by a train with that ending though, woof.
