Um, so… Centaurs. This is the first centaur romance I’ve read and… well, the horse thing is a little disconcerting (although the sexual turnaround was a nice touch), and there are a LOT of logistics that go into the banging. But otherwise, a fun smutty romp. Just not entirely my thing.

This was fun! And smutty as hell in all the right ways. I always think it’s funny when books start with a dark premise but then turns into a sweet mush of a romance. Also points for a billionaire MMC and a poor FMC who is seriously like WTF about it. 🤣

Utterly delightful! It was funny to read this after Behold Her, knowing exactly what Elle & Shane had in store for their future, but I loved every minute of it. And Nathan might be my new book boyfriend, for real.

Totally forgot to write this review on Monday when I finished this book. This was a fun romp, but I’ve since found out it’s Callaway’s first book, and it definitely shows in some ways. Was VERY interesting to read it at the same time as Hoyt’s Duke of Desire though, as it shares more than a few plot elements and handles them very differently— in some ways better, and in some ways worse.

Anyway, I’m more than halfway through the next book in this series already, and it’s so much better, so Callaway is definitely an author I’ll be exploring lots more.

I have never been so glad for a novella in all my life. We absolutely could NOT leave Maiden Lane on that last book, we needed this Mary Whitsun story to save us. I loved that it took so many elements from stories we know— Anastasia, Pygmalion, Annie, Prince and the Pauper, I know I’m missing something— and in the end turns things on their head. Novellas are notorious for the insta-love factor, but it didn’t make me mad here, maybe cause it was so He Falls First. And the cameos were solid, even when it was just a list of who was at the wedding, it made me happy. Glad to end on a high note, even if I’m sad for it to be over!
