I prefer listening to him on YouTube because he imparts so much when he speaks. In written form I didn’t find a lot as an experienced meditator I didn’t know, however in the weeks since reading it little things keep coming to mind which have really transformed my relation to fear. Namely the idea of acknowledging fear or other negative states, or even positive like love, with the words, hello dear friend fear come in, I will make you comfortable…to paraphrase. I keep doing that and it has been very powerful. Also the idea that anger is like having a knife inside. I really love the Venerable Thich Naht Hanh…the world misses him.
I didn't think the parts about aids were all that cathartic as I'd hoped, the poetry was mediocre and she was intensely negative and unlikable.
