This was, for me, an emotional read, full of sorrow and hope and something I desperately needed to read. I'm glad I took my time (2 months!), because chewing through it slowly was a balm of sorts.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I wish I had read it as a child, though. I would have enjoyed it even more if I had read it between 8 to 12. There is so much of the protagonist's personality that inherently clicks with that tween age. Even so, I'm glad I read it.
This book was a great read. It combined his story alongside the cultural backdrop that was the horrors of the apartheid. I learned a lot about the apartheid, as well as about Noah. I thought his tone was well done, striking a balance between serious and levity throughout.

This is a fantastic book for anyone working with kids who have experienced traumas.
Wow. What an exploration of vulnerability and devastation and hope and love and heartbreak and shame.
Fascinating story. Such a cool exploration of personalities and motives.
