Fantastic novel. I loved the exploration of Ghanian folklore in a modern remix. I loved the explicit way racism and antiblackness was explored. I loved the story of middle school kids bonding and learning that there is more than meets the eye in each of them. I loved this book. 

This is such an excellent exploration of the autistic identity by an autistic author. Absolutely a must read for late-diagnosed autistic folx across the spectrum. This read is such a wonderfully affirming, inclusive book. 

This was a harrowing read in a lot of ways, similar to the Handmaid's Tale. The plot structure felt rushed at times, not as strong a construction, but the story was intense and kept me hooked in. 

This was a hard read for me. It was much more in-your-face than I necessary anticipated, but I wanted to give it a shot given how much I'd heard about it. I'm glad I finished it. But it was definitely more overtly sexual than I had originally assumed. It was intense, but I learned a lot. 

This book was an interesting read, but had some frustrating oversights, in my opinion. A whole book on dopamine, which barely mentions ADHD (and when it does, uses the outdated ADD instead, and malingers stimulants as generally harmful), was disappointing. To have a whole chapter on shame and, in the first page of the chapter, denounce the breadth of research on the shame vs guilt paradigm felt unnecessary and condescending. That said - there are good insights here about how consumption in culture fuels consumption, and how that can be detrimental. And I learned many cool tidbits I didn't know before. So not useless, but not one of my favorites. 

This is a beautiful exploration of grief, loss, love, and life. 

This was a cool concept and a dark story woven with hope. It is a story exploring themes of the importance of remembering our past and striving for improving society. 

This book was a wild ride. I almost put it down a couple times, unsure where it was going or whether I liked it. But I'm glad I stuck with it. Some of the messaging is a little heavy handed, but seems intentionally so. Interesting style and plot for sure.
