You know, each and every time I pick up a Colleen Hoover, I say to myself "she can't do better than ..." (whichever is the last of her books I have read).
But each and every time she blows that thought right out of the water, and it was not different with November 9.
I loved the premise of November 9 - after a chance meeting, Ben and Fallon to decide to meet up on the same day every year for the next 5 years, but will have no contact for the rest of the year.
Told from Ben and Fallon's POVs, through trials and tribulations, through relationships, careers, lives in general, the reader can feel the excitement as November 9 comes around each year. The anticipation, the fear, the wondering - are they as wonderful as they remembered?
As the years progress, Ms Hoover does things to me
3rd November 9 - my heart breaks
4th November 9 - this happens - and I am sure Ms Hoover loved doing it to us!
Last November 9 - I swear she was trying to kill my by dehydration I was leaking so much!
As much as November 9 is a story about love, it is a story about friendship, loss, survival.
From the minute I picked it up, I could not put it down. I just needed to know what was going to happen to our lovelies as each year passed.
November 9 is a beautiful story that will at times break your heart, and needs to go on your TBR list!
I can't wait to see what Ms Hoover brings us next

This is the second in this series, but could be read as a stand alone - but who would want to miss any of the sexy cowboy hotness.
We met Rohn in the first book and got to know a little about him, but the more I learned about him in Midnight Wrangler, the more there was to love.
You know what I loved the most about this book? That the MC's were closer to my age rather than someone I could be a mother to - so thanks Ms Johnson!
I also love a second chance romance, and this was a beautiful story of first love, love lost, love found again. There was plenty going on in Rohn and Bonnie's lives, so this was more of a marathon story than a sprint.
I just wanted so badly for Rohn and Bonnie to be together, for Bonnie to stop her disappearing acts, for them to get their HEA.
Rohn's three workers are hilarious, but also so much more caring than you would think they would be.
Now, I live in farming country, I think it is time for me to try and find myself a Rohn!

You will need to have read Paradise City to get the full effect of Paradise Road
At the end of Paradise City, Ballantine broke Lexie's (and my) heart.
Now Lexie is back, and her story is bigger and better than ever!
Whilst I liked Paradise City, I LOVED Paradise Road - so much more than I thought I would!
This is Lexie's road to self discovery, to prove to herself and everyone else that she is more than that girl from the country.
Ballantine is still gone, and now Dean is becoming a part of her life - much to both her and Dean's surprise.
I adored Lexie and Dean's banter - there is a real love/hate thing going on, but as the reader you can feel, you just know that there is more.
I was really happy with where Lexie's story took us. I felt a lot more depth, a lot more emotion with where she is in this part of the story as to where she was during Paradise City.
CJ Duggan drew all the emotions out of me with Paradise Road - I laughed, I teared up, got mad.
Paradise Road is a wonderful conclusion to the Paradise series, and I look forward to what she brings us next.

I have not read the entire Dare series, but what I have read so far can be read as standalones.
Dare to Seduce is a sweet and sexy story about Max Savage and Lucy Dare - who have been wanting each other for years, neither of them ever making the first move - until now.
I loved how Max and Lucy danced around each other, trying to avoid their attraction, all the while being drawn closer together.
There are plenty of laughs and sexy times. Oh yes, very sexy times!
I adored the journey that our lovelies take in Dare To Seduce. They fought tooth and nail for their relationship, and hope to find out more about them in the future.

Book about a hockey player? Yes please!
A friend of mine read this a while ago and told me I should read it, so I finally too it today.
I got a kind of Travis and Abby/Beautiful Disaster kind of vibe from this book. I think it was the friends to lovers /college thing going on?
I loved the development in the characters, both overcoming the crappy things that have happened in the past.
I look forward to getting the stories of the secondary characters in later books

You will need to have read Illusion and Disillusioned prior to reading Resolution, and they all follow on.
There were so many questions raised in the first two books, I was wondering how Ms Cooper was going to be able to resolve them all in this final book.
But resolve them she did! In fact, there were even more questions raised in Resolution, but those questions also start to answer the older questions (if that makes any sense?)
There are so many twists and turns, it was hard to really know who the puppetmaster was in all the goings on. Bianca and Jakob's relationship could implode or get stronger, you never know which way things are going to play out.
And you didn't find out until Ms Cooper was good and ready for you to find out.
I admired Bianca's growth in this final installment. She finally seemed to grow a pair and even though it was hard on her with all that was going on, she was no longer allowing herself to be bullied and lead by others.
I adored Bianca and Jakob's relationship - as strained and awkward as it got at times. It was kind of 2 steps forward one step back as they felt their way around their burgeoning relationship.
But can they get their HEA after everything - for that you will have to read for yourself.
I enjoy Ms Cooper's work, and I look forward to what she has for us next.

We have had a bit of a wait for this 3rd installment of Velvet Reed's Matters Of The Heart series, but A Home For My Heart is definitely worth the wait!
Sam "Vagina Man" and Ashley have been circling around each other for a while, but finally! At the end of Saving Our Hearts, they got their act together!
A Home For My Heart follows on from the events in Saving Our Hearts, and just like our lovelies, I couldn't keep the smile off my face as I started reading.
But the road to true love is not meant to be easy, and when events occur in Sam's life, it is probably the biggest obstacle they will ever face.
This story took off in a direction that I definitely had not expected - and I loved it! I love a story that surprises me - nothing worse than guessing where a story is going right at the start!
He broke my heart along with Ashley's when he walked away. I ran the full gamut of emotions along with Ashley. I am not afraid to admit that there were many a tear shed last night as I read.
I adored that we got more of Cole, Gracie and Cooper, as well as the rest of their extended families. I loved getting a peek into their lives - as well as getting a bit of a sneak peak as to where the series is going to go next.
And boy, after the sneak peek, I cannot wait for the next story in this series.
A Home For My Heart was a wonderful read that I finished in one sitting. Ms Reed tugged at my heart strings whilst taking me on a wonderful journey.

Yay, I am back in the Ashes and Embers world - and it is a great place to be!
Talon has been a bit of an enigma throughout the series, so I was keen to get his story - and what a story it is.
You know that TV show "Married at First Sight"? Where the first time the bride and groom meet is the wedding?
That is the situation Talon and Asia find themselves in. They are from such completely different upbringings, such different statuses in life, and neither of them is what the other wanted in a partner.
I really like the "blind marriage" concept - gives us a completely different feel to the story, an unpredictability that I as a reader love.
But they say opposites attract, and you can feel the pull between Talon and Asia from the beginning, from behind the snarky comments and observations. I laughed so many times as our lovelies got to know each other.
I LOVED that Asia does not fall straight into bed with Talon. That it was not an insta-lust, sleep-with-the-rock-star relationship. That she made him work for it - cos you now how those rock stars don't have to work for it! She wanted, no needed more from him.
There was so much emotion in Talon. As much as I laughed with our lovelies, there were some deeper issues that cropped up that had me sad. Had me in tears. Had my heart hurting.
Talon has quickly become my favourite in the Ashes and Embers series (though I have said that at the end of each book so far!)
It was great to see where the characters from the last book were at, and there are some characters we got more of, hopefully leading up to their stores - which I am sure I am going to love also.
Thank you Ms Cole for giving us the Valentine men. I can't wait to see whose story we get next!
