The premise of Deep Down is not a new one, but it is one I really enjoyed. It is spin off series of the Bowen series, which I also love.
Mike and Kyra were childhood sweethearts, all set to be each other's forever. Then a fight, misunderstandings and miscommunications force a breakup.
7 years down the track and their worlds are thrown back together. The have both moved on physically, but emotionally they are both still in love with each other.
What I liked about their "reconciliation" is that they did not fall straight back into a relationship. There is so much anger, hurt, mistrust between the two of them that no matter what their hearts or bodies want, they use their heads.
Mike ~ hot and sexy, but grrr I felt that he didn't really take any responsibility in the break up for so much of the book, threw all the blame at Kyra's feet. "You left me" was all that left his mouth for so long, but I did appreciate that as the book moved on he did come to his senses. Which is good, because I wanted to smack him around the side of the head and tell him to wake up to himself!!
Kyra ~ I could completely understand her side of the story and why things happened the way they did. My heart broke for her with things she has been through, and could understand her apprehension at coming back home.
Her daughter Sam is just adorable. And it is no surprise that Mike falls completely in love with her. She has never had a real father figure in her life and she adores Mike with her whole heart.
But the complete and total scene stealers in this book are the OG's ~ Original Grandmas. Mike's grandma Rebecca and her friends Greta and Wilma are hilarious! Oh the hijinx they get up to!! Whether it be seniors martial arts or dancing, or their incessant matchmaking, they are just gold!
And then there are their text messages! Auto correct has a field day with them, and there is no way you can't laugh out loud at them!!
There are some great secondary characters ~ Mike's family, the guys from the gym, the girls from the strip club. Yep, there is a bit of everyone in this book.
But there are some just horrible people in this book too. Kyra's ex husband, there are no words for how horrible I found him. He has absolutely no redeeming qualities at all!
Then there is Stacey, Kyra's best friend. The less said about her the better after things she gets up to!
The sexual tension between Mike and Kyra is so thick, you could cut it with a knife. When things do steam up between the pair, things get pretty darn HOT!! The dynamics between the pair means they were always going to get together in some shape or form, but it was the getting there that I enjoyed.
I look forward to more of this series (but get me Max's story first!!!)

I have read quite a few of Megan Hart's books in the past and have enjoyed them, as I did with Flying.
Her books all lean to the quirky side of things, and it is one of the things I enjoy most about them
Flying is no different. Stella spends her weekends in airport bars, having one night stands with strangers. It is her way from escaping her life as a lonely, a bit depressed, single mum. While it is not the way I would go about things, whatever floats her boat!
I loved that Stella is "normal".... she works, she looks after her teenage son. She has her troubles. She has lived her life and is clawing her way back to feeling alive again. I could relate to a lot of things in her life (not the single mum bit, but lots of little things she says and does).
I loved Stella's main protaganist in this book Matthew ~~ well at least most of the time. From the first minute they meet you can feel the attraction between them - but you can also feel the hesitance from both sides.
I think the great things about Flying is the slow burn of their relationship. There is no insta-love in this story (insta love is a pet peeve of mine and irritates me no end!!). They both want to keep things casual, but there is that pull that leads us to know that things will never stay casual between them.
As much as I love Matthew, at times he was completely selfish and I wanted to slap him around the ears and tell him to wake up to himself. Stella drops everything for him and he doesn't do the same
“But you weren’t here. You are never here. I come to you, and you don’t ever come to me. I am there for every bitch and moan and hand-wringing emotional breakdown you ever have. And you were not there for me for one. F&*king. Night.” ~~ Stella
I wasn't sure what to expect when I read the synopsis, but I knew whatever I got I would enjoy it. One thing that it did not have as much of as her other books is lots of sexy times. Sure there was sexy times, but there was so much more to this story than just hot monkey sex!
While at times I was berating one or both of our MC's, I was always cheering for them to get their acts together.
And do they get their act together and get their HEA?
For that you are going to have to read for yourself!!

ARC RECEIVED FROM HARLEQUIN AUSTRALIA FOR AN HONEST REVIEW
I keep saying that I am not a big reader of paranormal books, but having a look through my past reading history, I think I need to change that to "I am picky bout the paranormal books I read", because gees, there are quite a few of them!!
I have loved Gena Showalter's books since the day I stumbled across the first in the Lords of the Underworld series, and I have kept on reading them ever since.
Burning Dawn is the 3rd book in the Angels of The Dark series, and although I have not read the first 2 books I did not feel like I was missing on anything major that took away from Thane's book. Though I am intrigued by a few things, so I definitely will be headed back to
catch up on the.
Thane is a Sent One, an angel warrior. After being held as a slave by Kendra, a phoenix, he escapes with the help of human Elin.
Elin is not all she seems. Also a slave at K endra's camp, she helps Thane escape - for totally selfish reasons of course!
Thane is so tortured by what has happened to him, and he takes it out on his enemies, and his women. He is sex on legs (or on wings?). Heck, the first line of the book says it all
"He lived sex. Breathes Sex. Ate sex. He was sex."
Damn!!! Where could things possibly go from there??? Oh wait, then there is this description of him:
"
It’s like I ordered you from a catalogue. Like I said, I’ll take that gorgeous face and that sexy body, now add a dash of sweetness, and a smidgeon of protectiveness, and, okay, yeah, just go ahead and dip him in raging lust" - Elin
I gotta say, I thin Elin rocks! She is so out of her league with the "people" she is surrounded by, but she never lets that stop her. She kicks some immortal ass! She funny, she has a smart mouth that gets her into more trouble than you can imagine.
Thane and Elin together - just love them. So many ways that they are wrong for each other, making them perfect for each other.
It is not just this pair that makes this story so fantastic. Thane's best friends Bjorn and Xerces, partners in crime. The trio are hilarious together. There is a great bromance between the three, and they had me laughing so many times
"Do we need to settle this the old fashioned way, boys?" Thane asked, one brow arched as he shook a fist in the air.
"You mean break dance fighting?" Bjorn asked
Burning Dawn is a story within an extraordinary world. Love and hate. Passion and vengeance. Forgiveness and redemption. Complex relationships between feuding factions.
Add into that a bit of a crossover with the Lords of the Underworld series and Janeane is a happy camper!
Ms Showalter creates worlds so believable that even though the characters are immortal or paranormal, they don't seem to be. She has not disappointed me yet.
Now, I need to get to the first books and learn more about these Angels of The Dark

This is short, sweet and hot hot hot. I read this as part of Night After Night so got straight into more of Clay and Julia's story.
Gotta love a hot guy in a suit!
Gotta love a hot guy in a suit!
4.5 adorkable stars!!
I am a big fan of Jennifer Probst, and love love love her Marriage series.
And I love love LOVE this spin off series. We get the old characters from the marriage series, along with the new.
And the new is sexy rocket science guy, Nate. He's completely adorkable.
Searching for Perfect has that sweet, sexy rom-com feel about it. It's not that we don't know where things are going to end up, but it is the ride we are taken on to get there.
I love that Kennedy and Nate aren't perfect (it just doesn't do it for me when everything is perfect for everyone!!) They have real life problems that hold them back, and I love that they have to work through their problems to get to their HEA.... or do they?
I love the other girls at Kinnection, and as cave man as he is at times, I loved Nate's brother. Aaaaand I loved that Wolfe makes another appearance!
I laughed, I cried, my heart broke, my heart healed. Ms Probst didn't make it easy for her characters at all!!
I mean, who doesn't love a story about two people finding love when they are least expecting it, and when it is right under their noses, even better!
Now, bring on the next one, I need more!!

When I first read the synopsis for Veiled Innocence, I was not sure what I was going to be reading, but I was intrigue
And wow, Ella Frank has knocked this one out of the park!
Grayson McKendrick and Addison Lancaster's relationship is taboo. There are plenty of books out there with a student/teacher relationship, but nothing I have read compares to Veiled Innocence.
I am still in a bit of a book hangover after reading this book, even though it has been a couple of weeks since I finished it. It is beautifully written, and feels a bit poetic with the references to Cupid and the Psyche, Anne Boleyn. The way the characters relate and compare themselves to these historical and mythical figures draws you right into their world.
Addy and Grayson's relationship just feels perfect. Though not the societal norm due to the illicit nature and their age differences, it just feels right. The heart wants what the heart wants, consequences be damned.
The sexual tension between the pair is off the charts!! From the minute they first see each other the sparks fly.
I love Grayson's dirty mouth. Man, where were the teachers like him when I was at school?!?!?! And Addy is as the title says. On the outside she is all purity and innocence, underneath it all she is all heat and sexuality.
The sexy times - hot hot hot!! Grayson and Addy really know how to burn up the sheets!
I can't really say that I liked any of the secondary characters at all!! Brandon and Jessica are just douchebags! And her parents....pfff yeah they don't really deserve to have that title. Though they were pretty worthless as people, they all added something to Addy's story.
Ella Frank takes us on a journey full of twists and turns, the reader is never quite sure where things are going to go next. We can see that Addy and Grayson are perfect for each other, but will they be able to get to their HEA?
Nope, for that you are going to have to read for yourself.

A new series by Lauren Blakely - count me in!
After a "kind of" set up, Clay and Julia finally meet, and sparks fly. The sexual attraction is off. The. Charts!!
You know what I loved about Clay? Yeah, he likes the kink for no other reason that he just does! No childhood trauma. No mummy issues. Go Clay!
They both know what they want, and they go for it. And they want each other, if only for the night. They have no hang ups about the one night thing, have a healthy regard for their sexual appetites and relationships. They live on opposite sides of the country, but even that is not enough to keep them apart.
These two are perfect for each other, could be each other's forever.... or could they. This is of course the part where their pasts come back full force to haunt their new relationship.
I feel for both of them about the things in their pasts that are still affecting them to this day. As we learn more about it, my heart breaks for Clay while I feel anger for Julia.
Julia is hiding something. Secrets and lies are something that Clay cannot abide, are in instant deal breaker for him. No ifs. No buts. No matter how interested he is in the woman.
Can their feelings for each other be enough to get them through and have the forever that we know they deserve? Will it be the thing that separates them forever?
We have to wait because we got cliffhangered!!!
But never fear, it is only a week before the sequel, After this Night is released (12th May)
I love and loathe the secondary characters in Night After Night. I adore Julia's sister and her fianc`, and can understand why Julia does not tell her some of the things in her life. I loathe, loath, loathe Charlie and his cronies, and pretty much hate Clay's ex.
I felt so many emotions while reading. I loved, I laughed. I felt angry, I felt disappointed. But mostly I felt hopeful. Hope for Julia and Clay.
I have every faith the Ms Blakely will do Julia and Clay's story justice, and I hope they do get the HEA they deserve!!
