It took me a while to get into this book, what with trying to understand the world it was set in and all, but once I got that straightened out, I couldn't put the book down. I liked that Nyx wasn't set up to be someone who was perfect; her faults and flaws were what made her such an engaging character. Not only that, it made her human and believable. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Just stayed up until 3 am to finish this book...three and a half hours cover to cover and I am so glad I did. I don think I could've slept without knowing the whole story. A most excellent twist ending!

Well, this is not a "sunshine & lollipops" book, but it did have moments when I laughed, snickered or giggled. It is well written and entertaining, which is important when it comes to my reading material. Miriam is a damaged soul who acts the bad girl but really is someone who has her heart in the right place even if her head isn't always screwed on straight. I think that all of us have a wee bit of Miriam in us, buried deep beneath the dust and debris that is our life. Wendig has created a character that is foul mouthed, foul tempered, and ultimately identifiable. Can't wait to start Cormorant to find out where Miriam ends up next.
