This was a fun audio book, and I love Ellery Adams mysteries, but the use of similes and metaphors to describe seriously every last thing got a little much... like overly enthusiastic high school poet too much. That said, I’ll take overly enthusiastic over boring any day.

Definitely felt like this book worked overly hard to “woke,” but still only focused on the white women, and only examined sexism as it related back to trauma of a female relative. This is to say, while the narrator was witty and charming and I enjoyed the historical elements, this didn’t quite hit the tone it needed to be truly aware or pack a punch.

This is for book and mystery lovers. These Adams mysteries are rapidly becoming a habit. Charming, relaxing, but still clever and always acknowledging that a violent death is a tragedy.
