Mom review: this book is hilarious and fun to read aloud to the kids. With just four chapters they feel like they’re getting a grown-up chapter book, but the entire thing can pretty easily be read aloud in about 20 minutes.

Reminds me of classic science fiction, down to its core. Like lots in the genre the set up got a bit drawn out and dry but it paid out in the last 2/3’s of the book, and particularly the last 10 or so chapters. The survival chapters on planet are particularly interesting. I look forward to the next installment... though I fear it took an almost silly turn at the end?

3.5. I liked that and I wanted to love it, but the complete and total lack of any female characters juxtaposed with the constant discussion of sex with women made it... annoying. The whole monster premise and blot are hilarious, but even frat boys who are cool classic monster are still frat boys. I’ll probably still read the second one.

I read a lot of these “individual essay actresses memoirs” at this point, and I have to say I found this one to be one of the most charming. We are big fans of many of her projects and I’ve casually followed her career for years. The last few chapters get particularly real and honest.
