Reading these at the recommendation of a friend, and pre-reading prior to sharing with my oldest. Content wise he could handle this, but the reading-level is a bit more than he can do solo and we’ve learned that reading comics aloud is hard to enjoy. Either way, I look forward to the second volume. Fun premise, beautiful art. Only complaint is the text being in all caps. I’m dyslexic and I use the shape of words when I’m reading, so all caps for the entire book is exhausting.

These are excellent graphic novels. They’re generally kid friendly - though probably 9+ just for general comprehension of some of the more subtle visual storytelling. It’s political and tragic and inspiring.

The author (by his own admission) works in greater service to the fictional mystery than to actual history, but for history nerds it’s super fun to recognize the relationship between characters, time periods, and events. This is a fun and complex mystery but still has moments of poignant insight. A great read!

Surprised and impressed. Will get book two.

This was a fun little mystery with a spunky main character. Light read with just enough emotional insight to keep my interested. I'll totally pick up the next one - this is just the kind of series I need right now! Perfect plane read as well.

Loving this series, learning more about all the races and characters, and watching October (and everyone else) grow and develop. Fun, detailed world. I love that it's fairytale silliness but with a gritty level of a crime procedural mixed in. A perfect fantasy series for Mystery/Adventure fans.
