3.5 stars. This is one of my favorite series and obviously if I'm grading on a curve, Saga sets it. That said, this series is in constant motion and never stays put. I suppose that is the implied nature of an intergalactic war, but it gets tiring. Further I understand that this is a war story and does not beat around the bush when it comes to graphic, challenging, adult issues, but at a certain point it starts to feel like too methodical. The final two gut punches (avoiding spoilers) were straight up predictable given Saga's history. It's like watching a prime time hospital drama featuring an elderly patient - you feel like a cynical ass for thinking it, but you know they're going to die at the end with some poignant prose about life's hardships delivered via narrator. That what the final issue in this volume felt like to me.

Being a collection of short stories by variety of different authors it makes sense that I loved some and was unimpressed by others. Obviously stories that were branch-off installments about characters from other series were more fun if you had some familiarity with the world and the characters. I was introduced to two or three characters/authors that I've now put on reserve at the library! For that alone, worth my time!

This was great! I was annoyed by the immediate flat belly post birth (like within seconds) but I guess she is a super hero? The issues about life with a newborn were spot on and it was cool to see those issues from the prospective of a former Avenger.

I mean it was titled "Her Sky Cowboy." I got exactly what I expected. Steam punk sky cowboys. So, yeah.

Right in the feels. Just. Wow. That sort took my breath away for a few moments there. Beautiful.
