Y'all I really really could have liked this book. But there were enough things that just bugged me that I can't like it. I just can't. So here's a list of some little and some big things that pissed me off.
1. When our main character, Kristen, is talking about how sexy she finds a guy and how she wants to have sex, her best friend comments "I swear to God you're a man" as if a woman shouldn't be expressing her sexuality...yikes.
2. The love interest loses weight during a period of time when he's away from Kristen and immediately after saying that he's lost the weight and looks sad she throws in that he looks good. Like... if someone's losing weight because of emotional difficulty DO NOT SAY THAT THEY LOOK GOOD Jesus.
3. There's a literal cool girl monologue a la Gone Girl in this book where Joshua talks about how "cool" Kristen is and like...how do you spend two paragraphs talking about how much of a cool girl your main character is unironically in 2019? How? (maybe not everyone thinks about this monologue 100% of the time like I do but that YouTube video has enough views that I feel like some people must). Kristen is the epitome of "not like other girls" and this cool girl monologue made me want to scream.

Anyway, this book was trying to do things and it came...kinda close, I guess?

Spoiler
Having an entire book be about coming to terms with infertility and working through it with your partner only to have it end with a miracle pregnancy is not only yikes but boring and predictable. Do better.Anyway, this book was trying to do things and it came...kinda close, I guess?
