It was an absolutely fantastic finale!! Lots of action and suspense but also a ton of adorable romance to make up for it. ( full review on my blog - https://heirofglitter.wordpress.com/2015/11/27/winter-review/#more-1116 )
This was an awesome conclusion to the Grisha trilogy! I really liked all of the characters, and the epilogue was so cute, even if Alina didn't end up with who I wanted her to. :) Nikolai is definitely my favorite character! He's like a princely cross between Finnick from [b:Catching Fire|6148028|Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)|Suzanne Collins|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1358273780s/6148028.jpg|6171458] and Thorne from [b:Cress|13206828|Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3)|Marissa Meyer|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1379083526s/13206828.jpg|18390772]. :D
However I thought the plot was a bit flat and that the ending was too unrealistic. Other than that, I had no issues with this book.
I was shocked when it was revealed that Mal was the third amplifier and almost right away I had a feeling he would die. It was kind of sad for me when he did, but I think it should've stayed that way. It was unrealistic for him to miraculously be brought back to life.
Also, it killed me when Nikolai was turned into some sort of shadow hybrid. His interactions were nearly as heartbreaking as Dorian's chapters in [b:Queen of Shadows|18006496|Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, #4)|Sarah J. Maas|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1441230104s/18006496.jpg|25272067] and his return to normal was just as relieving and amazing.

I was excited to read this because it had gotten a lot of hype on social media. Unfortunately, I didn't find it that great. I didn't like Aristotle at all and I had mixed feelings about Dante. I also felt like the plot was lacking, and that the LGBT theme was more of a side detail than a major point.
This book just wasn't my bar of chocolate. My version of a joke. I don't like tea. Haha.

* actually 4.5 stars, but rounded up because it was amazing
Shades of Earth was an awesome conclusion to the Across The Universe trilogy. It was super intense and fun to read. The characters were great, although my favorite was Amy by far. I thought Amy's dad and Elder were a bit too protective, and it irritated me that both of Amy's parents were so prejudiced towards the shipborns. I loved the visuals I got of Centauri-Earth, and I honestly think it would be a cool place to live once all the threats were eliminated. My only other issue was that the ending left a bit to be desired. Everything was wrapped up nicely, but I still had a few questions that I wish were answered. Overall, though, it was amazing and this trilogy is definitely a new sci-fi favorite. :)

Even though I knew the basics of what would happen, I highly enjoyed this novella. The small details in Dawson and Beth's romance were heartwarming and I love them together almost as much as I love Daemon and Katy. The ending didn't make me cry, but it seriously messed with my emotions.
I thought Dawson was a great character. He was definitely the nicer of the two brothers, but he still did whatever he wanted and I liked that. I loved Beth, though. I could relate to her so much. Daemon, Dee, and the Thompson triplets were just about the same, but I learned more about all of them and gained a lot of respect for Adam.
I would definitely recommend this if you enjoyed any or all of the other Lux books, but if you haven't read at least Obsidian , definitely read that first.
