This book was a bit long, but thanks to all the smut I stayed invested. It could have benefitted from a bit of a trim, but I'm still picking up the next book in the series!
Tiktok made me read this because I continuously create thirst traps about Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and as an avid smut reader, my followers couldn't believe I haven't read this.
But like....this 'aint smut, my friends. This is like Medium salsa where you get like one bite in the whole jar that feels a bit hotter for some reason but the rest of the jar is kinda bland.
The book isn't bad, but I was expecting some lip-biting and sweating at the very least and now I just need to go download something filthy to fix where my expectations were.

The spice was nice but the book wrapped up super quick. It moved too quickly for me to get really invested. But its great if you're looking for a quick spicy read with an alphahole.
I liked the first book in the series a bit more than this one, but it was still fiesty and spicy just like I like it!
Standard cliches of "I laughed, I cried" apply here. I will forever love Amy Poehler, and this book solidifies that.
I need plot and character development within my stories to make the naked times more fun for me, and that is literally not the point of this book. This book is just a series of quick hookups. Yes, they are very spicy, but it's just not for me. It is called "romance stories" but I would call this erotica. To me, romance stories need to have an emotional connection and journies and end with an HFN or HEA. There is no depth and journey in these stories - it's just sex. Which is fine, but it is not a romance novel.
Also, the book could benefit from another proofreading. There were a lot of very simple mistakes with words missing or incorrect character names.

This book kept me interested and was a quick read, but it never got deeper than just surface level for me. We don't always want a deep, emotional read and if you're looking for something light with just a brief touch darker topics you won't be disappointed with this read.
For me, I just wanted the book to dig deeper on even just one of the topics brought up within the pages of the book: dealing with depression/grief, conservation efforts on the Galapagos Islands, a sister escaping an abusive relationship, or even just digging deeper into how and why Henley is such a workaholic. I liked the brief peak we got into all of these issues but I really wanted more on at least one of them. I think I could have fallen in love with Graeme if we saw more of his life.
All in all, I'm glad I read the book and love that we have a romance story mixed together with conservation efforts and now I really want to go to the Galapagos Islands!

I really wanted to love this book, but I just never got hooked. I have only read a few "witchy" books and the ones I love the most tend to have only a few mystical elements while this one was chock full of them. I think this may be a mood read book for me and I just wasn't quite there. I may try picking this book up again near Halloween and see how that goes. There were a lot of fun references sprinkled throughout the book, that I think will amuse readers. Have fun finding them!
I'm sorry, but I was bored as shit reading this. I literally cranked the speed up on the audiobook to finish it......
