As a person who struggles with generalized anxiety disorder, I loved and appreciated the understanding within the pages of this book. I was hooked within the first 3 pages. The story unfolded slowly, and the only drama came from just the healing journeys each of the main characters went on.
My only negative critique is that I wasn't in love with the way the last chunk of the book evolved. I'm glad Walker and his Dad had their talk, but I would have loved more depth and emotion and drama to showcase why Aja and Walker are who they are. We saw alot of their present, but not a lot of their past. I think it would have helped connect even more to their characters.

I really did not like this one. The whole premise of the story was so immature and irritating to me and I did not like any of these characters.
Generally I don't think of myself as a person who loves to read fantasy books and so I put off reading this one thinking it would be too k!nky and too full of fantasy for me, but I was very wrong. I enjoyed the shit out of this book. Its like.... approachable k!nk. I put headphones on and washed the dishes just so I could avoid my family and keep listening. Hard Rec on this one.
I loved the beginning of this book. The emails and the banter as they connected were adorable, but after the emails stopped so did the momentum.
I really enjoyed the first 2/3 of the book and all of the lead up to the actual romance. I found it fascinating trying to figure out how it was all going to work out in the end. Its just once the tension of the secret was gone, I lost some of the spark and drive that the story had.
This book took me a bit to get into, but I was fully sold on it once I reached the middle. Angus is such a sweet grumpus and I fell in love with him when we saw how much he cared for women and consent. I loved that about him. The scoreboard thing he does irritates me, but I mean...I think that was the point. Sweet and sassy Rose was an excellent addition to the world of body positivity in romance novels. She thinks she's broken, but we get to see her shine.
I do feel like something was missing in the character development of the old lady with the pearls. The book and other characters mention her so much but we learn so little and it left me feeling like something was missing. I kind of felt the same about July and Meg/David. Like there were too many bites shared and I started to want to focus on them instead of Angus and Rose.
I would give this book a solid 3.5 stars and I would read more by this author.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the advanced copy of this book.

I freaking loved this book! The characters all just pulled me so far into this book. They felt so real and funny and quirky. I loved them and how different they all felt all while still feeling like a true and real family. It was a joy to listen to D'Vaughn and Kris develop their relationship and show up for each other. I was worried that there would be unrealistic and over the top stuff stemming from the show they are on, but it didn't get crazy and I never rolled my eyes even once! I'd absolutely read this again.
